The Celts were an ancient people from Eire and Bretogne who settled in Britannia.

The Celts also called Glastonbury Tor Ynys-Witran (the Island of Glass in Welsh), so-called because the lands around it were often flooded.

The British Celts were of those tribes who stopped warring and brought under the control of Camelot.

Legends[]

There are scores of Welsh and Celtic legends about larger-than-life heroes who go upon monumental quests, rescue or win their ladies, and search for miraculous treasures. They faced giants, visited magical islands and fought in the underworld.

Arth Vawr (Heavenly Bear in Welsh) was a god in very ancient Welsh and Celtic legends linked to the constellation of Ursa Major, and its name resembles that of Arthur.

Cernunnos was the celtic god of the hunt and sometimes the underworld. The Celts, like many others, worshiped the Great Goddess in her three forms: virgin, mother, and crone, which in turn represent creation, life and death.

In the Cauldron of Regeneration (Holy Grail?) injured or slain warriors could be resurrected. To the Welsh, the enchanted Cauldron of Inspiration was one of the Thirteen Treasures of Britain, that would not cook the meat of a liar or a coward.
